ABOUTEvent DetailsYWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® is an annual fundraising event which raises money to support the work the YWCA of Banff does to break the cycle of family violence and help keep women and their children safe. Although family violence is a very serious matter, this fun and light-hearted event asks registered male participants to take a stand against family violence, strap on a pair of heels and walk down the 100 & 200 blocks of Banff Avenue. Only men can participate in the walk, but women play a huge role in this event as volunteers as well as by encouraging and challenging the men in their lives to register and fundraise for the YWCA of Banff. When: Friday, September 13th, 2013 Donations: Accepted online, as well as at the event Shoes: High heels are provided (Up to a size 17!) Event HistoryYWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® has raised more than $185,000 in the past 4 years. In total almost 600 men have stood up and said "Not in my community". Thank you sincerely to the participants, sponsors, donors, volunteers, YWCA staff and supporters for making this event so impactful. In 2012, Town of Canmore employees took the trophy for the Top Team, raising $4,491 and Darryl Zimmer who fundraised $2,005 was our Top Walker. We are so grateful for their hard fundraising work!
