People in our community need a wide range of support at different times in their lives and according to their unique needs. The
YWCA of Banff offers a wide spectrum of services -
- Assistance for women and families who are experiencing violence - from simple questions to crisis intervention
- Supportive crisis counseling
- Facilitated access to the Bow Valley's emergency Women's Shelter
- Free Healthy Relationships for Men and Women Group Program
- Free relationship counseling
- Girls Circle/Boys Council group programs in the schools
- Affordable housing
- Supportive programming for residents of the YWCA of Banff
- Referrals for Income Support programs through Alberta Employment and Immigration
- Access to a variety of community programs
- Food bank referral
- Child care registry
- Landlord and tenant information
Through these services we build a healthy community, helping to stop domestic violence, providing affordable housing and serving
people at critical turning points in their lives.
All funds raised from the Walk A Mile event directly support the YWCA's activities to stop domestic violence in our
community.
The Walk A Mile event makes it possible for us to provide women and children fleeing from the psychological and physical
violence with counseling, crisis intervention and access to a Women's shelter.
The Walk A Mile event also makes it possible for us to provide violence prevention programs in our community. We offer
programs to children in local schools to help them build self-esteem and stop bullying. We also provide men and women with group
programs to help build healthy relationships.
All funds raised from the Walk A Mile event help the YWCA support women and children during a critical turning point in
their lives.
